Maggot-stitch
Halter Top 2004
Tea dyed silk
This piece has this name because the stitches are done with crochet thread, a
lot stiffer than other threads, giving each stitch a rounded appearance. They
are all sewn together randomly and on top of each other so the result looks
similar to a pile of maggots. The piece is made from silk satin and is entirely
hand sewn creating a juxtaposition between the beauty of the material and
craftsmanship and the concept of the stitches.
